  • A WORLD APART - THE CHARM AND TRANQUILLITY OF A BYGONE ERA AT THE ANTI-HOTEL!

  •  Whilst welcoming you to our home, high on a hill, backed by jungle, with glimpses of the lake and city through the trees, in the ancient kingdom of Kandy, be aware:

  • The Folly is essentially a private home, open to a few guests, and definitely not a boutique or starred emporium.

  • We would not want you to stay, if you are expecting a regular hotel experience.

  • Not the slightest intention of packing our home to full capacity, with the sole purpose of financial gain.

  • We do not accept large tour parties.

  • Please do not compare us to other hotels, price wise or facility wise.

  • 90% of our guests come from referrals or die hard regulars!

  • Please go around the house, and be sure that here is where you would like to stay, prior to booking in.

  • A home that you will LOVE or HATE! Not slaves to the latest techno gizmos!

  • We choose not to have in room TV’s. minibars and piped music

  • We do however have a theatre with a 14 ft screen, where you can enjoy ‘bites’ and drinks, whilst watching your chosen movie from our wide selection.

  • Other amenities include a jungle swimming pool, Restaurant. Intimate dining areas. Outside terraces. Library. Writing areas. Bar. Drawing rooms full of memorabhilia. Board games etc.

  • Awash with colour, murals and life size statues.

  • Furnished with genuine old antiques, which jostle harmoniously with family pictures, paintings and newspaper cuttings, chronicling the history of this home.

  • “In the visitors books everyone searches for an adequate description,: King Arthurs knights meet Victorian meet the Adams family..Perhaps the closest was Carl Muller when he wrote: The gods of music, art and drama have done the impossible”..Ctsy ‘Living In Sri Lanka’ James Fennel and Turtle Bunbury. Thames and Hudson.

  • Many of the staff have been here for decades.

  • Guest satisfaction is our main concern. Far better than a moan later! Please do your homework. Thank you.
